2012 has been an incredible year here at PixelMEDIA from initiating plans for expansion into a new facility to a device lab to hosting speakers like Ethan Marcotte, Josh Clark, and Dries Buytaert.
Things keep getting better! It was announced earlier this month that Business NH Magazine has named PixelMEDIA the “Best Small Company to Work for in New Hampshire”!
The December issue of the mag “explores New Hampshire companies whose unique corporate cultures create outstanding workplaces.” PixelMEDIA has been fortunate enough to be included as a finalist in prior years (finishing #2 in 2011), but 2012 marks the first time at the top of the list of companies with fewer than 100 employees.
The magazine commends PixelMEDIA for its flex time and work from home policies, the incorporation of employee input into company goals, initiatives to promote a healthy organization, and the overall fun and creative work environment. Let’s face it, the nature of the work is already fun, but when you add NERF guns, company bicycles, and regular employee appreciation events into the mix, you have 60+ employees excited to come to work.
“It gets people engaged with one another,” PXL CEO Erik Dodier said.
The extensive application and judging process for the honor begins early in the summer with a lengthy written submission. As the applicants are narrowed down, a discussion is held with an employee focus group by a premier judging team. Judges come from a range of business around the state, each with a successful professional background and a knack for sniffing out canned answers. There’s no fooling these folks! There is also an office tour and an interview with the CEO to round out the process.
Together, these efforts give the judges insight into the organization to help them decide the best company to work for. Just writing down all the steps to this process feels overwhelming, so you can imagine the effort that went into participating!
The credit for this recognition goes to the PixelMEDIA employees, as they are responsible for sustaining the culture at the company. Employees regularly propose new ideas to improve the culture and the business, all of which are carefully reviewed by management. This collaboration definitely makes PXL one of the best companies to work for.
