Business Challenge

In 2003, PixelMEDIA and ECCO USA launched an ecommerce storefront, ECCOUSA.COM. It garnered industry awards and recognition, due in part to its friendly tools and flexible shopping cart. As it continued to grow organically with more products and content, it became somewhat cumbersome for online shoppers to navigate and make a purchase—and the brand experience wasn't as cohesive as it could be. That’s when ECCO USA posed a new challenge to PixelMEDIA: take advantage of new trends and offer its target audience a single site that fostered brand outreach, education, and easy access to the large breadth of products ECCO has to offer.

PixelMEDIA Solution

PixelMEDIA created a new brand experience for ECCO USA's audience—loyalists and new visitors alike. With touchstones like a user experience manifesto and industry best practices, they designed a rich website that reflects new directives in global branding and brick-and-mortar store design. It offers functionality seen in the previous site—a flexible shopping cart with multiple destination management, product wishlists and email-a-friend tools, real-time integration with inventory and ERP systems—plus new features and functionality:

  • Filtering tools to enable personalized shopping
  • Streamlined architecture to surface products in fewer clicks
  • Integrated content for contextual education
  • Custom photography, multi-angle product shots, and Flash® animation to simulate interaction with a product
  • Rich content about ECCO’s heritage and shoe technology to educate site visitors
  • Site-wide merchandising and marketing opportunities
  • Multi-channel brand promotion through advertisements, in-store trunk shows, and store locator
