Retooling the Communication Process: Aubuchon Hardware Relies on PixelMEDIA to Build a Powerful Intranet

New England hardware chain improves communication and efficiency across 130 stores through a dynamic and robust employee intranet.

Portsmouth, NH - 06/04/2007 - PixelMEDIA, Inc., a professional services consultancy focused on internet enablement, today announced the completion of a new employee intranet for Aubuchon Hardware. A family-owned business in the New England region, Aubuchon now enjoys real-time, centralized communication among its 130 stores, enabling greater collaboration and productivity company-wide.

Since 1908, Aubuchon Hardware has experienced steady growth with a strong presence in five states, as well as a thriving online business. But with this continuous growth, vital information-sharing between employees and stores had become fragmented and challenging. Store managers were too dependent on email to share information, meaning critical news and updates would not always receive proper attention. Aubuchon needed a way to keep company, sales, and store information in a centralized place that would provide staff with the latest news and easy-to-use communication tools.

PixelMEDIA recommended the design and development of an intranet with an integrated content management system (CMS). It was paramount to Aubuchon that the solution be highly scalable so we could phase it in gradually without disrupting their day-to-day operations. They also needed assurance that the application would grow with them to support future demands, said Thomas Obrey, COO and co-founder of PixelMEDIA.

PixelMEDIA leveraged its technical, strategic, and creative teams to drive the entire initiative, including designing a user-friendly interface to efficiently organize content and integrating the CMS software from third-party partner Ektron, Inc. The myAubuchon intranet features an alert tool that informs registered users when theres new, relevant information available to them. In addition, the integration of an Accuweather feed, with real-time historical data access, allows Aubuchon to merchandise their stores based on weather patterns, as well as view sales trends against varying weather conditions.
