If the Shoe Fits: ECCO USA Turns to PixelMEDIA for a More Comfortable Online Experience
Global shoe manufacturer relies on long-time partner to build a refined website that significantly enhances the shopping experience.
Portsmouth, NH - 10/03/2006 - Shopping for quality footwear is now a whole lot more enjoyablethanks to the recent launch of ECCO USAs redesigned ecommerce website, www.eccousa.com. Partnering once again with PixelMEDIA, Inc., a professional services firm focused on Internet enablement, ECCO USA wanted to provide a richer, more rewarding user experience for loyal customers and first-time visitors alike. Judging by the steady rise in online sales, the worlds seventh largest shoe brand met its objective.
It was more than three years ago when PixelMEDIA first developed the ECCO USA ecommerce storefront, which garnered significant industry awards and recognition. However, as the site grew organically with more products and content, it became somewhat cumbersome for online shoppers to navigate and make a purchase. Thats when ECCO USA posed a new challenge to PixelMEDIA: build an even better site to further embrace the ECCO brand, educate consumers on ECCOs heritage, andmost importantlyprovide faster, easier access to the vast offering of mens, womens, and kids footwear and accessories.
Working closely with ECCO USA, PixelMEDIAs User Experience team analyzed and evaluated best practices for visual design, messaging, filtering, and other key attributes that cater to the online customer. Based on these results, PixelMEDIA developed design concepts and content most appropriate to the target audience and the ECCO brand. We knew we needed to reduce the number of clicks for visitors, but it was only after putting ourselves in the customers shoes, so to speak, that we were able to create a much richer and more consistent experience, said Thomas Obrey, COO and co-founder of PixelMEDIA.
The new website leverages some of the functionality of the previous site, such as flexible shopping cart with multiple destination management and real-time integration with ECCO USAs inventory and ERP systems. But it also includes some new user-friendly features. Filtering tools for more personalized shopping, custom photography, Flash animation, and on-site search tools all contribute to a faster, more informed purchase and checkout process. Plus, expanded content on ECCOs history and technology further enriches the site, providing visitors a well-rounded and educated shopping experience.
In the end, PixelMEDIA was able to reduce the clicks-to-purchase by 35%and still deliver a robust, highly enjoyable website that maintains the same average time per visit as the previous site. This is testament to the enhanced features and compelling content, which attract online shoppers and make them want to stay awhile.
