Interaction Designer
The interaction designer will lead user and design research, generate system interface concepts and prototypes for business software applications and consumer-facing websites that support a client’s business objectives and meet customer’s needs.
ROLE
- Articulate a design strategy for a proposed solution based on business goals, interaction requirements audience needs.
- Conduct research using participatory and iterative design techniques including observational studies, customer interviews, usability testing and other forms of requirements discovery.
- Perform task and workflow analysis to determine efficient and intuitive user paths to address user scenarios.
- Produce user requirements specifications including personas, storyboards, navigation models, wireframes, design prototypes, and design specifications.
- Translate complex data-driven applications into simplified solutions that are intuitive and convey information relationships in a meaningful and clear manner.
- Assess the context for integrating aspects of social media to promote and drive on-going engagement.
- Contribute to an interdisciplinary team that includes visual designers, project management, content strategists, research specialists and software developers to create well-integrated solutions.
- Participate in new business development by helping to estimate resource needs, level of effort, deliverables and project scope.
- Believes in, and effectively communicates, the benefits of following user-centered design principles.
REQUIREMENTS
- An extensive portfolio that includes samples of user interface design as well as the documentation that led to the final design solution including wireframes, site maps, navigation flows, and/or interaction design specs.
- Proficiency with UI prototyping tools such as Visio, Axure RP or SketchFlow.
- Ability to interact with executive management and experience across various industries.
- Solid background with web framework and technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, Flash, and CSS.
- Excellent visual/verbal communicator with a proven ability to organize interactive information systems.
- Extremely detail-oriented, flexible, and able to work in a fast-paced environment with aggressive deadlines.
- Strong knowledge of user interface design processes and methodologies and how to incorporate them into agile and plan-driven development processes.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, HCI, visual design or a related field
- 5+ years work experience
- Consulting or agency experience preferred
