Leader in Service Level Intelligence software improves product usability

Business Challenge
When SPECTRUM was rolled out over ten years ago at Networld+Interop it was considered the most revolutionary application interface of its time. After ten years of steady feature and functionality enhancements at the code-level, it was time to release an equally impactful user interface update as the product shifted from a client-server base to being fully Web-enabled.

For reasons that spanned ease of use to marketability, Aprisma decided it was time to invest in a new presentation layer of the product. Aprisma set out to accomplish
the following:

  • Launch Spectrum OneClick with a unified interface
  • Introduce 3 modes of visualizing topology data
  • Reduce the assimilation period for current customers
  • Improve usability for first time users

PixelMEDIA Solution
Following an initial assessment, PixelMEDIA worked in conjunction with the engineering, product management and marketing teams at Aprisma to develop a solution that appealed to a broader, less tech savvy audience.

This project addressed areas such as:

  • Development of a scalable methodology for expansion at both the breadth and depth levels
  • Internationalization (done via Usability testing)
  • Creating a contextual and highly intuitive interface
  • Ensuring that actionable information is never more than one click away
  • Aggressively pursue and incorporate feedback direct from customers around the world

The new SPECTRUM OneClick interface has received rave reviews from customers, prospects, industry experts and analysts.

The Impact
See what Network Computing had to say about the new release:

If vendors would just create a simple front end to their software, they’d reduce training costs and improve usability, I’ve said. Aprisma must have been listening. If you’re considering a power network-management app like SPECTRUM, Aprisma has given you a new reason to look its way.”

For this initiative, PixelMEDIA provided:

  • General user interface design expertise
  • Creative and graphic design services
  • Custom 2D and 3D icon development
  • Global usability and element testing
  • Style Guide design/development
  • End of cycle design audit
